About the event
Help survey the dark-red helleborines of Raisby Hill Grassland. No prior experience required.
Attendees will be counting dark-red helleborines. This is an annual count and important science. Data has been collected for more than 30 years on Durham Wildlife Trust nature reserves on this rare orchid.
Participants will learn how we undertake the survey for this rare orchid. Undertake the survey (ability to count from 1 to 100 helpful). View other species of interest on the day. Learn what Durham Wildlife Trust are doing to conserve this rare orchid.
Durham Wildlife Trust Director, Ecology Manager and Land Advice Manager will be your guides.
This an opportunity to contribute to a valuable piece of citizen science and possibly start your own journey as a citizen scientist.
Bring –suitable clothing, sun protection, a drink.
Suitable footwear a must as we will be survey across slopes.
There are no facilities on-site.
