Ciaran Lines

Ciaran, 18, is running his first half marathon. He says: "I am lucky to be able to do my training on run routes around the countryside. I'm raising money for Durham Wildlife Trust in this year's Great North Run to help protect these wild spaces for the future."

Lorna Metcalfe

Hi I'm Lorna, a usual CrossFit and trail running addict who has hung up her weights and trail shoes to run the Great North Run in support of the Durham Wildlife Trust. I adore spending time outside, especially on our local Nature Reserves, so want to do my bit to support and help Durham Wildlife Trust maintain these beautiful areas for us and future generations.

Claire Hodgson

I started running in January and a few months in me and my husband had thoughts about doing the great north run. My sister has always been in to running, so she suggested I joined her local club. I was very nervous and apprehensive as I’m so self conscious about running in a crowd, but I took the plunge and joined a local Club -Crook and district AC. It was the best thing I did, it gave me the confidence and drive to better myself at running and all the club members are so friendly and positive, this gave me the bug and I became hooked. One of my goals has been to run a half marathon (crazy I know). I talked my husband into it and we decided we wanted to run and raise money for our local wildlife charity. Durham Wildlife Trust is very important to us as a family. We home educate our two girls and our way of learning and exploring is from being outside. Litter picking, walks, identifying wild flowers and creatures small and big. We attended the Home Ed nature classes at Low Barns and we couldn’t have picked a better charity to raise money for.

Joanne and Chris

Chris is running his 2nd Great North Run, and Joanne her 5th.

We are aiming to raise as much money as we can for the Durham Wildlife Trust. We love spending time outdoors with our dog Woody, so this is a charity close to our hearts.

The last 18 months have been extra tough for the charity, so every penny counts.

Working for the Trust, I know first hand how important your donations are to the work we do.  Whether it is supporting the day to day running of the charity, work on reserves, or delivering projects for the benefit of specific species or habitats in the north east; we literally couldn't do it without you.
