About the event

Help us remove an invasive species from Blackhall Rocks Nature Reserve.

You'll be working with our rangers and volunteers, pulling up the invasive species Himalayan balsam, to create space for native plants to thrive.

Learn about why we hope to banish balsam and give us a hand removing this non-native species from the reserve. We’ll also include a guided walk for those who would like to join in afterwards.

In partnership with the Species Survival Fund's 'Coastal Grasslands Reconnected' project, we are working to improve, restore and protect the important and biodiverse habitats of the Durham coastline, including the rare and highly valuable magnesian limestone grassland.

Please bring sturdy footwear, long trousers and clothing suitable for the weather. We will provide gloves and tools for use on the day.

You may also wish to bring a packed lunch and a drink.

There is a free car park nearby, but no toilet facilities.
