Durham Wildlife Trust is committed to engaging with landowners to influence Nature Recovery across 10,000ha of land by 2030. The Trust has developed a 'farming with nature' work package available to farm businesses to survey wildlife and habitats on farm assess habitat condition and recommend actions to benefit farm wildlife.

Durham Wildlife Trust has secured £149,462 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and £20,000 match funding from Sunderland Council, for the development stage of a project that ultimately aims to restore nature in 13 green spaces across Sunderland’s Coalfield area.

Healing Nature was a Green Recovery Challenge Fund project, funded by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and our partners at Gateshead Council, South Tyneside Council, and Sunderland Council. The project aimed to undertake habitat work for wildlife conservation and to engage people and communities with their local area and greenspaces across 20 sites spread across Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside.

Durham Wildlife Trust's Nextdoor Nature is bringing communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work! Thanks to £5million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Nextdoor Nature will provide people with the advice and support they need to help nature on their doorstep, and leave a lasting natural legacy to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
