The design features four circular photos showing people enjoying outdoor activities — gentle exercise in a meadow, a woodland walk, a floral craft, and group stretching. Logos for Durham Wildlife Trust, Sunderland City Council, Wear Rivers Trust, and Heritage Fund appear along the bottom, with a Linktree QR code and socia

About the event

This outdoor wellbeing programme is designed to help local community members improve their overall wellbeing by increasing their activity levels and time spent outdoors in nature. Come along to meet new people and make friends, learn more about nature and wellbeing and try new beginner-friendly, gentle activities against the backdrop of Elemore Park.

Our 4-week programme, running from 23rd July - 13th August, will consist of 1 session every Thursday between 1-3pm. Please note: attendance at all 4 sessions is encouraged for attendees to really make the most out of the activities. If you have booked a spot and can no longer attend the programme or a session, please let Mary-Anne know asap.

To book your space on the programme, simply reserve a ticket for the first session (23rd July 1-3pm). This will reserve your spot on the entire programme.

Programme line-up:

Thursday 23rd July - 1-3pm - Nature Collages

Set against the backdrop of the park, we will use foraged materials such as leaves, twigs and seeds to create natural collages of our favourite wildlife.

Thursday 30th July - 1-3pm - Wild Yoga

We will be joined by Wild Yoga instructor Roy Moor for a session suitable for all, taking place within the park. Relax your mind and body, tune into bird song and nature all around. Mats will be provided and seats are available upon request.

Thursday 6th August - 1-3pm - Willow Woven crafts

Take time for a creative outlet and make your own Willow Wreaths using foraged natural resources from our Links with Nature greenspaces.

Thursday 13th August - 1pm-3pm - Mindfulness Walk

Join us for a gentle walk around the park where we will focus on taking in the senses and re-connecting with nature. We will be joined by the Little Company of Calm to practice mindfulness and try Qigong - a meditation with gentle movement combing the mind, body and breath.

Location

For each session we will meet outside Easington Lane Community Access Point (ELCAP), Brick Garth, Easington Ln, Houghton le Spring, DH5 0LE. W3W: ///roof.spends.unafraid. We will then walk as a group to/from Elemore Park (approx. 9 minute walk). If you have concerns about the walk to/from the park, please contact Mary-Anne prior to booking.

Getting there by car

Plenty of on-street parking is available on Brick Garth, directly outside of the ELCAP building.
