About the event

Experience the changing colours of Hawthorn Dene on an autumn ramble through one of the county’s most beautiful coastal landscapes. Along the way, supporters will be introduced to autumn tree identification and the seasonal wildlife that thrives in this special reserve.

Hawthorn Dene is the second-largest coastal dene in the county, with unspoilt ancient woodland and species-rich limestone hay meadows. Durham Wildlife Trust’s Reserves Manager will explain how the site is cared for and managed, offering an insight into the habitats and species that make this reserve such a valuable place for nature.
