About the event
This is a follow-up event and we will compare bird count data from our May count. Spaces are limited.
This session is aimed at 11-18 year olds who love the outdoors and the environment. It features a trip to some privately-owned moorland above Weardale to take part in an annual survey of the moor’s birds.
The group will be driven to the site near Brotherlee, where they will then transfer to four-wheel drive transports. They will venture off-road, into some of the privately owned moors where they will undertake three surveys at different locations along the moors.
Previous sessions have allowed views of a range of moorland birds including raptors, waders and game birds like illusive black grouse.
The bird count will last approximately 2 hours – with this in mind - the session will be longer than usual Rangers session.
Owing to the limited amount of spaces available in the transports, this session is only open to seven attendees.
