Thank you to everyone who supported our Magical Meadows Earth Raise appeal this spring!

Thank you to everyone who supported our Magical Meadows Earth Raise appeal this spring!

Donations from generous supporters have been match-funded to reach Durham Wildlife Trust's £20,000 Earth Raise target.

This spring, for the first time, Durham Wildlife Trust took part in the 'Earth Raise' initiative – a seven day, online, match-funding initiative organised by the Big Give.

This appeal was dedicated to our region’s magnesian limestone grasslands and the unique species which call these special places home.

The Trust would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated and helped us to reach our ambitious target.

We are, as ever, so grateful for your support.

Once spanning large areas vibrant with wildflowers and alive with pollinators, magnesian limestone grasslands have now been reduced to small numbers of fragmented habitats across our region. Many of the species that depend on them now hover dangerously close to disappearing altogether.

However, as a charity we are in a fortunate position to protect these grasslands from further development and restore the flora and fauna within our magnesian limestone grassland reserves - Only 400 hectares of this habitat exist nationally and almost 100 hectares of these are managed by Durham Wildlife Trust.

Thank you for supporting us to restore these special places for the wonderful wildlife that depends on them.

If you didn't get the chance to donate during the Earth Raise campaign, you can still donate to support this precious habitat below:
