About the event

In this session we will be investigating life in our nature reserve's waters. We will conduct a water survey / pond dip – identifying the range of invertebrates and vertebrates and asking whether our findings would suggest a healthy water ecosystem.

Last summer was exceptionally dry with virtually no rain from May right through to October. Now is the time where we can see whether this has had any obvious impact on the pond’s species numbers.

The session will also feature a chance to see works that are being undertaken to develop the den area.

You'll gain an insight into some of the important aspects of site management to consider and adapt to climate change.

Join this group of young volunteers and get some hands on experience of managing a nature reserve and recording the wildlife. You'll gain new skills and get involved in conservation tasks including surveying, planting and painting tasks during these sessions.

These volunteering hours can count towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award or can be recorded as work experience on your CV, plus you’re helping to do your bit for the environment!

Please dress for the weather and bring suitable waterproof clothing. Wear sturdy boots/footwear.

Activities across different sessions may include:
