About the event
Now that spring has definitely sprung, you will no doubt have noticed the increase in beautiful birdsong across our local greenspaces. But, do you know your wren from your great tit? Your dunnock from your blackbird? If not, this is a great opportunity to learn!
We will be walking our Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve keeping our ears open for birdsong as Durham Wildlife Trust supporter and ornithologist, Richard, talks us through how to identify some of the common songs and calls we may hear. This event is open to all, however the session is tailored towards beginners in birdsong ID.
As the proverb goes, the early bird catches the worm and as such we will be meeting at 5:30am to catch the most birdsong! The session will last approximately two hours and will consist of a gentle guided walk across pathed routes. If you have any concerns over accessibility, please send us an email to ntd@durhamwt.co.uk.
Please meet in front of the visitors centre at Rainton Meadows for a 5:30am start. Please bring warm clothing, a pair of binoculars if you have them and comfortable walking shoes. Please note, the visitors centre will not be open for the duration of the session, so there will be no open toilet facilities.
