Wildflower Safari at Copt Hill
About the event
During our Wildflower Safari we will look at some common grassland wildflowers and discuss the identifying features of each, talk about their place in folklore and their importance in the wider habitat. We will then have a go at using a simple key to identify wildflowers before practising our skills with some surveying across the site. No prior experience or knowledge is required and everyone is welcome. All ID materials including guides and lenses will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own if you wish.
Please meet Mary-Anne at the top entrance of the site for 10am (what3words: ///longer.code.laser, https://maps.app.goo.gl/LmRZQBPGUp2oKTHVA). Mary-Anne will then lead the group into and around the greenspace, returning to the site entrance for 1pm.
Under 18s are also welcome, provided they attend with a parent or guardian. We kindly ask that no dogs are brought along to this event with the exception of assistance dogs. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring drinking water with you. Closed-toed shoes, long sleeves and long trousers are advised.
Please note, this walk will involve walking off path and up/down hills. We will be outside for the duration of the walk and there are no toilets on site. If you have any concerns surrounding accessibility, please contact our Engagement Officer, Mary-Anne, at marielly@durhamwt.co.uk or call us on 0191 5843112 and ask for Mary-Anne.
