There are a multitude of ways supporters can come together for wildlife - from bake sales to raffles - there is something for every wildlife enthusiast. One way that supporter, Jacob Luscombe, has decided to fundraise for the Trust is by donning his trainers in the summer and running 70 miles across Hadrian's Wall. With 113km of tricky terrain ahead of him, starting at Carlisle and finishing at Gateshead, this is set to be a challenging but rewarding experience for Jacob.
Jacob explains why he chose to fundraise for Durham Wildlife Trust: "The work that Durham Wildlife Trust does reflects something that I feel runs through my family — a respect for heritage, landscape, and our natural environment.
"My great grandfather dedicated much of his life to rebuilding and restoring Hadrian's Wall, preserving an important part of our history. Growing up with that example instilled in me a real appreciation for protecting the places that shape our identity."
Both Jacob’s father and uncle have had direct involvement in habitat restoration, which he gives credit to being an influence on his understanding of conservation work and its importance.
