The North East is home to magnificent countryside, from the majestic moorland of the North Pennines to the awe-inspiring North East coastline. However in recent years habitat loss, water pollution and built development have led to significant declines in UK wildlife. By becoming a member of Durham Wildlife Trust, you can help us to protect the wildlife on your doorstep.

By becoming a member of Durham Wildlife Trust, you can make a difference for wildlife - at a time when every action to protect our natural world really counts.

The most recent State of Nature Report found that mammals have declined by over a quarter (26%) in the UK, while bird species have declined by 43%, since monitoring began in 1970. Altogether, the study found that 1 in 6 UK species are at risk.

However, by becoming a member of your local Wildlife Trust, you can help us to protect wildlife at risk. Every donation helps us to continue vital conservation work across the North East, ensuring that natural habitats are restored and protected for local wildlife.

How could your donation help the wonderful wildlife across our patch?

The Wildlife Trusts play a very important part in protecting our natural heritage. I would encourage anyone who cares about wildlife to join them.
