My Wild 5 - Run, Walk, Move 5K Your Way

2020 was due to be the 3rd annual Run Rainton, a 5k fun run around Durham Wildlife Trust’s flagship nature reserve, Rainton Meadows.

In its first two years, Run Rainton has raised more than £3000 for the Trust, in addition to introducing new audiences to the reserve and just being a really fun and positive event for all.

Run Rainton is made great by the 150 runners, spectators and volunteers who all take time out of their normal routines to come together, putting their wild foot forward for local wildlife.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still underway, the health, safety and comfort of Trust supporters is our top priority and we cannot in good conscience promote our biggest event of the year this August. At least not in its current form.

So are you up for a wild challenge?

You can still put your wild foot forward to help local wildlife. The challenge is for you to run, walk, move 5k (or any other 5 you can manage) around your local wild patch and donate £5 to Durham Wildlife Trust.

It might be around Rainton Meadows, it could be Hardwick Park, Cleadon Hills, Shibdon Pond or Seaham Beach, really just 5 of your do-able distance, anywhere wild!

Share your #Wild5 with us on social media @durhamwildlife on Twitter and Instagram and tag us (Durham Wildlife Trust) on Facebook.

Donate your #Wild5 below – we suggest £5, but it could be any amount you choose, you can opt to raise sponsorship or even nominate your friends.

Involve your friends and family, plan your route, share your challenge and most importantly enjoy taking a little time for you, in nature.
