About the event
🌙 Join Us for a Twilight Bat Walk! 🦇
As the sun sets over Durham, join us for a magical evening discovering bats along the coast. Using our bat detectors, you’ll tune into their echolocation calls while learning fascinating facts about these mysterious night-flyers.
Perfect for families, nature lovers, and anyone curious about these magnificent creatures.
This event is being delivered as part of the Coastal Grasslands Reconnected Project, which aims to create and restore the wildflower rich magnesian limestone grasslands along the Durham Coastline. The project is a partnership between Durham County Council, the National Trust, and Durham Wildlife Trust. Coastal Grasslands Reconnected is funded by the Government’s Species Survival Fund.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Sturdy footwear and warm, weatherproof clothing is advised. Please also bring a torch if you have one.
Walks will be at a slow pace with lots of stops.
Booking is essential, as bats are like us in a lot of ways and particularly don't like bad weather. So this event is subject to change, weather permitting.
There is parking available, but no nearby toilet facilities.
